Wallflower Fire King

Sale price£2.05

The most dramatic wallflower in the range. Fire King produces dense, velvety spikes of glowing scarlet-orange that resemble burning embers — a colour so vivid it stops you in your tracks on a grey March morning, backed by a heady honey-clove perfume that is legendary among wallflower growers.

Hardy to H5, listed on the RHS Plants for Pollinators, and one of the most reliable early nectar sources for bumblebees. Pinch out the central growing tip at 15cm for multiple branching side-spikes.

  • Erysimum cheiri 'Fire King' — Hardy Biennial (H5)
  • Height: 30–45cm | Flowers: March–May (Year 2)
  • Sow outdoors May–July; flowers the following spring
  • Full sun; well-drained, slightly alkaline soil
  • Pinch growing tip at 15cm for multiple branching spikes
  • RHS Plants for Pollinators listed

Plant it with deep purple tulips for a spring combination of fire and velvet that is genuinely unforgettable.
