Sweet William Indian Carpet Mixed

Sale price£2.15

The compact Sweet William — bred for edges, paths, and the front of a sunny border. Indian Carpet Mixed hugs the ground to form a lush, low mat of foliage that produces a dome of intricately patterned blooms in rich shades of crimson, pink, salmon, and white, rarely exceeding 25cm in height.

The same delicious spicy clove perfume as the taller varieties, in a form that works beautifully as fragrant path edging, in rockeries, or as a vibrant skirt around the base of shrubs and roses. A favourite of garden butterflies.

  • Dianthus barbatus 'Indian Carpet' — Hardy Biennial (H5)
  • Height: 20–25cm | Flowers: May–July (Year 2)
  • Sow outdoors May–July; flowers the following summer
  • Full sun; well-drained soil
  • Compact self-supporting habit — ideal for edges and containers
  • Outstanding pollinator plant — butterflies in particular

Line a path with it and walk through a cloud of clove scent every morning from May to July.
