Scabious Black Knight

Sale price£2.40

Drama, mystery, and deep velvet. Black Knight produces honey-scented pincushion flowers in a shade of maroon-purple so deep they are often mistaken for black — swaying on long, wiry stems with a grace that makes them as beautiful in a vase as they are in the border.

Flowering from July through to November — one of the longest seasons of any annual — and an outstanding pollinator plant throughout. The dark, jewel-like blooms provide a sophisticated focal point that lifts any planting scheme into something more considered.

  • Scabiosa atropurpurea 'Black Knight' — Hardy Annual (H4)
  • Height: 90cm | Flowers: July–November
  • Sow indoors March–April or direct May–June
  • Full sun; well-drained soil
  • Honey-scented — outstanding pollinator plant
  • Excellent for cutting — long vase life

Grow it with Ammi majus and white cosmos for a border that moves between darkness and light with real intention.
