Platycodon Balloon Flower Mixed

Sale price£2.20

The flower with the most charming bud in the garden. Platycodon Balloon Flower Mixed produces inflated, balloon-like buds that pop open into large, star-shaped flowers in a mix of blue, white, and pink — a novelty that delights children and adults alike, on compact, self-supporting plants that flower reliably from June through to August.

Ultra-hardy (H7), long-lived, and one of the most unusual perennials available from seed. Slow to establish but rewarding for years once settled.

  • Platycodon grandiflorus — Hardy Perennial (H7)
  • Height: 30–60cm | Flowers: June–August
  • Sow indoors February–April; surface sow, needs light
  • Full sun to partial shade; well-drained soil
  • Slow to establish — do not disturb once planted
  • Outstanding bee plant

Grow it at the front of a border where the balloon buds can be seen and appreciated up close — they are one of the great small pleasures of the summer garden.
