Onion Red Baron produces deep, rich red-purple bulbs with a firm, crisp texture and a flavour that is sweeter and milder than white onions — outstanding raw in salads, pickled, caramelised, and roasted whole. • Sow: January–March indoors; plant out April–May; harvest: August–September
• Full sun; rich, well-drained soil
• Sow thinly, thin to 10cm; harvest when tops fall over
