Malva Alba
The white malva — and the most versatile of the three. Malva Alba produces large, open, saucer-shaped flowers in pure white with delicate grey-white veining on tall, self-supporting stems that work as a natural lightener in any border, cooling down hot colours and making dark-toned neighbours look more dramatic.
Tall, generous, and flowering prolifically from June through to October. Self-seeds reliably once established — a permanent, naturalising presence in any sunny border.
- Malva sylvestris 'Alba' — Hardy Perennial (H5)
- Height: 90–120cm | Flowers: June–October
- Sow indoors March–April or direct May; full sun
- Well-drained soil — drought-tolerant once established
- Self-seeds freely — naturalises beautifully
- Outstanding pollinator plant
Grow all three malvas together — Alba, Zebrina, and Mystic Merlin — for a tall, self-supporting, self-seeding malva border that covers every tone from white to deep violet.
