Watch wildlife further from the house with this Green Feathers long-range wireless bird box camera kit. It combines a 1080p HD network camera with a transmitter and receiver to send footage across larger gardens and wildlife-watching sites, with a 64GB microSD card included for recording.

Wireless transmission reaches up to 300 metres with a clear line of sight between the transmitter and receiver. Actual range depends on the installation and obstacles. Both ends need power: this is a wireless video link, not a battery-powered or completely cable-free kit.

A connection beyond your home WiFi

The camera connects to the transmitter by cable, and the receiver connects to your network. The transmitter and receiver select a wireless channel automatically. Their 863–876MHz link uses the 802.11ah protocol rather than relying on your camera reaching your home's usual WiFi coverage.

A shared 12V lead powers the camera and transmitter together. A compatible power extension cable can be purchased separately where extra reach is needed; Green Feathers specifies power runs of up to 50 metres for this setup.

Watch live and record visits

Use the Green Feathers app on your smartphone or tablet to watch live footage and play back recordings. The included 64GB microSD card provides local storage. Cloud recording is also supported.

Detailed views, day and night

The camera captures 1920 × 1080 video at 20 frames per second. Its 2.8mm lens gives a 92° field of view, suited to enclosed spaces such as bird boxes and hedgehog habitats. Daytime colour footage gives way to infrared night vision after dark, with invisible LEDs that emit no visible glow.

The outdoor transmitter can be positioned to help achieve a clear line of sight. An IP66 rating is specified for the kit. Use the supplied weatherproof Ethernet gland and follow the installation instructions to protect connections. Waterproof connector compatibility is not guaranteed with Ethernet cables purchased elsewhere.
