Gypsophila Rosea
The perennial gypsophila — and an RHS Award of Garden Merit variety. Gypsophila Rosea is a creeping baby’s breath that forms a low, dense mat of grey-green foliage smothered in clouds of tiny, pale pink stars, tumbling over walls and paths like a pink waterfall from early summer onwards.
Naturally occurring on alpine limestone slopes, it is a master of alkaline conditions and the perfect problem-solver for gardeners with chalky or thin stony soils where little else thrives.
- Gypsophila repens 'Rosea' — RHS Award of Garden Merit, Hardy Perennial (H4)
- Height: 10–15cm (prostrate) | Spread: 40–50cm | Flowers: June–August
- Approximately 1,000 seeds per packet
- Full sun; well-drained, alkaline or chalky soil — thrives in poor conditions
- Excellent for walls, path edges, and rock gardens
Plant it at the top of a dry stone wall and let it cascade. It will reward you for years.
