Gypsophila Covent Garden
The florist’s secret. Gypsophila Covent Garden produces a frothy mist of pure white, open-faced blooms that provide the perfect airy neutral backdrop for almost any other flower — cooling down hot colours, softening bold forms, and making every arrangement look more considered.
Incredibly fast-growing at 6–8 weeks from seed to flower, but short-lived — the key is successional sowing every three weeks from March to June for a continuous supply of white mist from early summer through to the first frosts. Outstanding for small solitary bees and hoverflies.
- Gypsophila elegans 'Covent Garden' — Hardy Annual (H3)
- Height: 45–50cm | Flowers: June–first frosts (with successional sowing)
- Approximately 1,000 seeds per packet
- Sow every 3 weeks March–June for continuous supply — direct sow preferred
- Full sun; well-drained soil
- Outstanding pollinator plant for small bees and hoverflies
Sow a pinch every three weeks and you will never be without it. That is the only rule.
