Foxglove Primrose Yellow
An unusual and quietly beautiful foxglove — majestic spires densely packed with soft, creamy-lemon bells and chocolate-freckled throats that bring warmth and light to even the darkest corner of the garden.
Slightly more compact than the classic purple at 100–120cm, Primrose Yellow is particularly effective at brightening shaded borders and is a favourite of long-tongued bumblebees. Ultra-hardy (H7, to -20°C) and reliably self-seeding. Listed on the RHS Plants for Pollinators.
- Digitalis purpurea 'Primrose Yellow' — Hardy Biennial (H7)
- Height: 100–120cm | Spread: 45cm | Flowers: May–July (Year 2)
- Approximately 1,000 seeds per packet
- Thrives in shade and partial shade
- Self-seeding — naturalises beautifully over time
- RHS Plants for Pollinators listed
- Sow indoors April–May or outdoors June–July (seeds need light to germinate)
A foxglove that surprises — and then becomes indispensable.
