Foxglove Alba White
There is something quietly magical about a white foxglove in a shaded border — the way the spires seem to glow in low light, drawing the eye through the garden. Alba White is the purest expression of this: tall, elegant columns of snowy white thimble-shaped bells, rising to 1.2–1.5m with an effortless grace.
A hardy biennial of exceptional constitution (H7, surviving to -20°C), it will self-seed reliably once established, returning year after year with minimal encouragement. All four foxgloves are listed on the RHS Plants for Pollinators — long-tongued bumblebees in particular are devoted visitors.
- Digitalis purpurea 'Alba' — Hardy Biennial (H7)
- Height: 1.2–1.5m | Spread: 45cm | Flowers: May–July (Year 2)

- Self-seeding — naturalises beautifully over time
- RHS Plants for Pollinators listed
- Sow indoors April–May or outdoors May–July (seeds need light to germinate)
Plant in drifts through a shaded border or woodland edge for a planting scheme that feels genuinely timeless.
