Dahlia Bishops Children Mix

Sale price£2.30

The star of the show isn’t just the flowers — it’s the leaves. Bishop’s Children Mix produces stunning deep bronze to purple-black foliage that adds instant moodiness and depth to a border, against which single and semi-double blooms in fiery scarlet, tangerine, apricot, and rich pink glow like neon lights. The open yellow centres make them an absolute magnet for bees and butterflies.

Tubers can be lifted and stored after the first frost for an even more spectacular display the following year. Approximately 30 seeds per packet.

  • Dahlia × hortensis 'Bishop’s Children' — Half-Hardy Perennial (H2)
  • Height: 90–100cm | Flowers: July–first frost
  • Sow indoors February–April at 20–25°C; plant out late May–June only
  • Full sun; rich, fertile soil — feed weekly with potash once buds form
  • Pinch at 15cm for bushy multi-stemmed habit; deadhead regularly
  • Outstanding pollinator plant — bees and butterflies

Grow it with Cosmos Purity for a high-contrast combination of dark bronze foliage and pure white that is one of the most dramatic pairings in the late summer garden.
