Cornflower Snowman
The white cornflower — and a surprisingly versatile one. Snowman produces double blooms in pure, clean white that work as a natural lightener in any border combination, softening deeper colours and providing a luminous quality in the evening garden.
Ultra-hardy, cut-and-come-again, and thriving in poor soil. Particularly effective in a moon garden or a pale, all-white planting scheme, and outstanding as a filler in mixed arrangements. Listed on the RHS Plants for Pollinators.
- Centaurea cyanus 'Snowman' — Hardy Annual (H7)
- Height: 75–90cm | Flowers: June–September
- Approximately 200 seeds per packet
- Direct sow September for early blooms, or March–May — do not transplant
- Full sun; thrives in poor, well-drained soil — do not over-feed
- RHS Plants for Pollinators listed — petals edible
Grow it with Black Ball for a striking monochrome combination, or with the full cornflower range for a border that moves through every tone from white to near-black.
