Beetroot Boltardy

Sale price£1.95

The most reliable beetroot in the range — and an RHS Award of Garden Merit variety. Beetroot Boltardy produces deep crimson, smooth-skinned roots with a sweet, earthy flavour and the outstanding quality of genuine bolt-resistance, allowing it to be sown earlier than any other variety — from late February under cloches — for the earliest possible harvest.

  • Beta vulgaris 'Boltardy' — RHS AGM, Hardy Annual
  • Sow: February (under cloches)–July direct; harvest: June–October
  • Full sun to partial shade; deep, well-drained, stone-free soil
  • Sow 2cm deep, 10cm apart; thin to 10cm
  • Bolt-resistant — can be sown earlier than any other variety
  • Harvest at golf-ball size for best flavour; twist off tops rather than cutting
