Using the best whisky barrels we have available, our whisky barrel water butts hold approximately 200 litres and are 88cm tall and 64cm at their widest. Please note that each barrel is slightly different and sizes may vary by a few centimetres.

We carefully remove their lid intact, rebate the barrel top to create a seat, secure the lid and fit it with vintage hemp rope handle.

You have the option of a 1/2″ or 3/4″ brass tap, depending on your requirements. A 1/2″ fits standard hose pipe fittings whereas the 3/4″ gives a better flowrate.

As these are indeed timber, we advise that they are not allowed to dry out as this could result in the staves shrinking and leaking. We therefore fit the tap approximately 20cm from the bottom and recommend at least this much water remain in the barrel. After a period of the water level being low, the staves may shrink and after the next refill may leak/weep. Once filled, the timber will again swell and become watertight.

Please be aware that these are made to order and lead time will vary dependant on current demand, usually a week or two but please allow 4 – 6 weeks. Please get in touch to discuss your requirements and we will do our best to help.

We do not currently supply downpipe converter kits. As it is unknown where you will be installing your water butt or what diverter kit/hose diameter would be required, we do not drill an entry hole for it and this would be required by the installer. Please be aware that the staves are up to approximately 28mm thick and you will need to bear this in mind for the thread depth of the hose connector or recess the hole appropriately.
