Our retired whisky barrels are amongst the best quality barrels available, sourced from Scottish or Irish distilleries. Formally used in America for bourbon whiskey, there are made from American white oak and will last the test of time. Each barrel has been charred on the inside, in their former life serving as a whisky barrel, this charring gave the whisky flavour and help the tannings release from the oak. Lucky for us gardeners, this charring provides a fantastic natural rot resistance, further added to the longevity and durability of these amazing and frost resilient planters and garden features.

Our barrels are readily available as half and whole barrels and are cut to quarter and three quarter barrels in house. We aim to keep a few barrels pre cut in stock but dependant on demand, please allow some time incase we need to prepare yours.
Our barrels are usually water tight but please be aware that some barrels do already have a whole in one end, which can be bunged if required. If you would like a water tight barrel, please let us know at point of purchase and we will endeavour to pick out the best we have from our stock. All of our barrels will have a bunged hole in their belly.
Equally, if you’re intend use for your barrel is to be used as a planter for your roses, accers, olive trees, spring bulbs or summer annuals on your patio or in the garden, please let us know and we will be happy to put drainage holes in for you free of charge.
