It is now October. There is still much colour in the garden in contrast to many plants which are fading fast, such as the Hosta.
The Sedum is now a much deeper pink, contrasting with the surrounding planting.
The Japanese Anemone is taller still as it reaches for more sunlight. Its lovely white petals swaying in the wind.
There is still a lovely flower on the Magnolia. To me, sometimes they almost looked starched, as they hold their shape and look quite dramatic. After all, it is a Grandiflora!
Meanwhile the Hosta needs cutting back, but I am enjoying the new yellowing leaves, so will leave them alone until I must. They are all looking worn, and have been attacked by snails, but it is not as bad as last year, since I have been placing broken eggshells on the compost. Apparently, they do not like the surface, so cannot travel over it easily. I have since been eating too many eggs!!
